Dr. T. N. Retif

The person who has been highly influential in moving The Baron Ringers, who match, if not surpass the excellence of the top bell-ringing ensembles in the United States, toward the success and recognition they presently enjoy, is T.N. Retif, the Team's Conductor and Professor of Music at Brewton-Parker College. A graduate of Louisiana State University, with a Bachelor of Music Degree, and The University of Texas at Austin, with a Master of Music degree, he received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He taught on the music faculties of Tarrant County Community College, The University of Texas at Arlington and Hardin-Simmons University before coming to Brewton-Parker College. He has served tha A.G.E.H.R. as State Chairman, Area IV Chair-Elect, and as the Guest Master Conductor for the 1991 A.G.E.H.R. National Directors' Convention. He is also an accomplished singer, having been a member of the Santa Fe Opera Company. Since coming to Brewton-Parker College, Dr. Retif has molded and shaped The Baron Ringers into the outstanding ensembly that they are today, embodying a high standard of technical proficiency and musical excellence.
